The Quest Logo
A reproducing believer has a minimum of four distinct characteristics. First, they Declare their faith. Second, they Display their faith. Third, they Defend the faith. Fourth, they Disciple the faith.
Boiling down the essential core of what it means to be a reproducing believer, he/she should have these distinctive marks in their life. Quest seeks to produce these traits in the lives of every believer and equip them to execute these qualities daily. When you see the Quest logo you should automatically think of these four characteristics or qualities.
Logo Elements
Display the Faith
The Yellow portion of the logo is our label for displaying the faith. It is essential for believers to demonstrate a balanced Christian life that honors God. Paul provides a vivid word picture in 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 that our lives should be a sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him (Christ) in every place. Jesus instructs in Matthew 5:14-16 that believers are a “light to the world” or a beacon that shines before men in such a way that it demonstrates our good works. This kind of display should mean that we are magnets that attract people to Christ. Tragically, Christianity is frequently branded as being a “religion” filled with hypocrites. If believers seek to display their faith in a way that honors God daily, then it naturally provides an open door for declaration of the faith. If we display our faith properly, we will honor God and we will also respect men and women. Reaching unbelieving people with the gospel by constructing relational bridges is an essential aspect of displaying your faith. God Living out our faith in a winsome way is the duty of every believer. However, there must be balance between our display of the faith and the declaration of the faith.
Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
Declare the Faith
The Red portion of the logo is our label for declaring the faith. Each believer has a duty and responsibility to declare his/her faith by communicating in a competent and confident way the truth of the gospel and the truths of God’s word. Declaring one’s faith should be accomplished in a way that is appealing and respectful yet truthful. Paul states in Colossians 4: 5-6 that we should “conduct ourselves with wisdom, making the most of opportunities being gracious in our speech – knowing how to give an answer to everyone.” God honoring communication recognizes the importance of listening first and diagnosing the issues before giving an answer. Declaring our faith should not be confused with preaching – but communicating the truth in love via two-way communication. Frequently, people like to display their faith but seldom are they bold enough to declare their faith. We believe both are essential.
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Colossians 4:5-6
Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders making the most of the opportunities. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer everyone.
Defend the Faith
The Blue portion of the logo is our label for defending the faith. Each believer should be equipped and capable of defending the faith internally and externally. Defending the faith externally requires that we communicate with unbelieving people the truth of the gospel in light of the fact that our culture is becoming increasingly more secular and even hostile to the Christian faith, believers must be capable of being ready with an answer. Peter states in 1 Peter 3:15-16 that we should engage with a defense of the hope that is within us with courtesy and respect. This dovetails with the declaration simply providing an answer, but a well-reasoned strategic and tactical response. Today more than any other time believers must be capable of critical thinking and capable of reasoning from the scriptures. In addition, it is critical for believer so defend the faith from internal impostors. Guarding the faith also means defending the true Christian faith from apostasy and heresy.
1 Peter 3:15-16
But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess. Yet do it with courtesy and respect, keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you.
Jude 1:3-4
Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Disciple the Faith
The Green portion of the logo represents discipling the faith. Clearly, Jesus calls all believers to be in the habit of making disciples. This is marked by the “bookends” of Jesus’ ministry. From the beginning (Mark 1:17-18), Jesus was seeking to make disciples fishers of men. Just before his ascension, Jesus’ final command for his followers was to be focused on going out into the whole world with the expressed purpose of making disciples (Matt 28:18-20). This is almost presumptive that his followers would not just see people come to faith, but that they would disciple those who are converts. In a very real sense, each believer is also responsible for being a disciple himself. This means that each believer takes the necessary steps to grow in his own walk and mature in his faith daily. So, the true Christ follower is in the pursuit of discipleship internally and externally. Technically, each believer is not only becoming a disciple he is also a producer of other disciples. This is a life-long endeavor.
Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Mark 1:17-18
Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of men.” They left their nets immediately and followed him.
